Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove easily residual solvent from a chlorinated resin without deteriorating the resin, by bringing the chlorinated resin into contact with a fluid in a supercritical state.
CONSTITUTION: A process for removing residual solvent from a chlorinated resin, comprising bringing said resin into contact with a fluid in a supercritical state. According to this process, residual solvent can be effectively removed from the resin without deteriorating it to give a chlorinated resin of good quality. For example, CO2 in a supercritical state is fed by a pump 2 from a cylinder 1 through a preheater 3 to an extraction tank 4. The extraction tank 4 contains a chlorinated rubber powder from which the solvent is to be removed. In this tank, the supercritical CO2 is mixed with the chlorinated rubber powder, and the solvent CCl4 in the chlorinated rubber is extracted with the CO2. The CO2 containing CCl4 is sent to a trap 5, where the CCl4 is recovered and the CO2 is released into air.
