Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure leak current without receiving an effect of high voltage- ground current, by inserting an electrooptic converter to the high voltage side and converting the leak current amount into the light volume to be measured after converting the light volume into the current amount through a photoelectric converter via an optical guide. CONSTITUTION:A protecting resistance 12 is provided to prevent flowing of a large current in case a test cable 1 has a short circuit. The impedance of the resistance 12 is set larger than that of an electrooptic converter 5. As a result, only the leak current of a cable insulator flows through the converter 5 to be converted into the light volume and then transmitted to a photoelectric converter 6 via an optical guide 7. The output of the converter 6 corresponding to the leak current is recorded to a recorder 8. In such constitution, the measuring circuit system is cut off from the power supply voltage by the converter 5. As a result, the complicatedness of a measuring circuit system and the difficulty of the measuring operation can be eliminated.
