Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a steam cured calcium silicate compound with superior carbonation resistance causing no efflorescent phenomenon even if exposed to air over a long term by adding a prescribed percentage each of an org. phosphoric ester and a surfactant to a slurrified mixture of starting materials.
CONSTITUTION: Water is added to a powdered siliceous starting material such as Portland cement and silica powder and a powdered calcareous starting material such as CaO powder, and an org. phosphoric ester and a surfactant are further added by 0.2W5wt% and 0.01W1wt% of the total amount of said solid substances, respectively. They are mixed, and the mixture is subjected to steam curing by an ordinary method to manufacture a steam cured calcium silicate compound. The life of tobermorite in the resulting said compound is elongated by 7W8 times that of conventional tobermorite under severe conditions, so the carbonation resistance is enhanced correspondingly. Trimethyl phosphate and an amino acid surfactant may be used as said org. phosphoric ester and surfactant, respectively.
