CONSTITUTION:An original is read by a CCD407, whose output signal is converted by a digitizing circuit 51 into a binary signal, which is inputted to a picture- element density converting circuit 53; and the input data is outputted as it is in the form of 16-bit/mm. fine mode a delay time later, and also outputted in the form of 8-bit/mm. normal mode. This converting circuit 53 obtains the fine-mode output by outputting the data of the binary-coding circuit 51 through a latch 532 and the normal-mode output by ORing the output of the latch 532 and that of the binary-coding circuit 51. Those data are stored in a memory 55, data in specified modes are written in buffers 63, 65, and 67, and driving circuits 69, 71, and 73 are driven to achieve recording in each mode through heads 10, 20, and 30.
