Abstract

PURPOSE:To dilute and discharge produced gases from large sized patterns as well in a casting method using the pattern which is burned out by molten metal by burying a middle cover on the upper side of the molding sand compacted in a molding flask that can discharge gases in such a way as to have air permeability. CONSTITUTION:A plate 5 having vent holes is provided on supporting means 4' provided in the bottom part in a molding flak 2 on a supporting plate 7, and a small amt. of molding sand S is put thereon and is compacted flat with a vibrator. A pattern 1 coated beforehand with a mold coating material is put thereon and the sand S is packed up to near the upper part of the flak 2 and is compacted with the vibrator. Next, an iron middle cover 3 is placed on the projections 3' provided in plural positions to the means 2' in the lower part of the middle cover, and is fixed to the flask 2 by a suitable method. THe sand S is put thereon and is compacted. In this case a sprue guide 8 penetrates through the hole 3' of the cover 3, and a sprue cup 9 is provided. Next, when molten metal is charged through the sprue while gases are sucked through a suction pipe 14, the mold 1 gasifies. At this time, the sand S is sucked but since the cover 3 does not close the flask 2 tightly, the air flows in an arrow direction into a suction chamber 4. Thereby, the sand S is cooled.
