Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a calliper, in which a pair of friction pads are pressed to a rotor in engagement, in a light weight by restricting the weight claiming casting part to cylinder and using bent sheet metal to other parts. CONSTITUTION:The cylinder part 1 of a capplier, constituting a cylinderical body with its one end opened, is made by casting, and a flange 8 is formed at a part of the periphery of said cylindrical body, i.e. in the location nearer the open end of the cylinder 2, in such a way as stretching outward in the radial direction. The yoke part 9, on the other part, of this calliper is formed by bending a flat plate, composed of the body 10 bent into an inverted U-form in profile, an opening 11 supporting the cylinder 1 which is fitted at one leg 10g of said body 10, and a skirt having mounting holes and provided on the sides of the opening 11. The cylinder 2 is furnished with an oil chamber 3, an oil intake 4 and a piston 5. Accordingly, the cast part which should share the major part of the weight can be restricted to cylinder part 1 while other parts are made in steel. Thus making in light weight is attained.
