Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in the rectification of a trolley line voltage when the voltage is abruptly varied by magnetically coupling an armature circuit to a field branch circuit through a transformer. CONSTITUTION:The primary side coil 6a of a transformer 6 is connected in series with the armature circuit of a series motor, and the secondary side coil 6b magnetically connected to the coil 6a is connected in series with a field branch circuit connected in parallel with a series field coil 4. The polarity of the transformer 6 is so constructed to become a direction that the voltage induced at the coil 6b when the armature current increase is added to a counterelectromotive force produced at a field branch resistor 3. In this manner, the peak value of the armature current when a trolley line voltage is abruptly varied can be suppressed, thereby preventing the deterioration of the rectification of the line voltage.
