PURPOSE:To elevate performance of cleaning of an reverse polarity toner and cleaning of a linear picture, by providing an auxiliary electrode in the proximity of a cleaning nip, and applying bias voltage whose polarity is reversed to cleaning bias voltage, to said auxiliary electrode. CONSTITUTION:In the proximity of a cleaning nip where a photosensitive body 1 is opposed to a cleaning magnet brush 3,and at an upper flow side in the rotating direction of the photosensitive body 1, an auxiliary electrode 2 is provided to direct its tip in the cleaning nip direction, and to this auxiliary electrode 2, an electric power source 7 for the auxiliary electrode is connected, so that bias voltage whose polarity is reversed to cleaning bias volage is applied to this auxiliary electrode 2. In this way, an opposite polarity toner can be cleaned sufficiently, and also cleaning performance of a linear picture is elevated.
