Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform partial metallization of a plastic film, by printing the surface of a water-soluble or highly water-absorbing plastic film with a resin having excellent releasability, metallizing the printed surface, attaching a pressure- sensitive adhesive sheet thereto, and peeling the sheet thereby removing the printed part from the film.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a water-soluble or highly water-absorbing plastic film 1 (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol film, nylon film, etc.) is printed with a resin (e.g. wax, silicone resin, etc.) having excellent releasability to the film to form the printed part 2 and unprinted part 3. A metallic film 4 (e.g. Al, Cr, Ni, etc.) is deposited to the surface, a sheet 6 having a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 5 is attached to the metallized surface, and the sheet is peeled off from the film to effect the removal of the metallized layer on the printed part and obtain the objective partially metallized plastic film. The application of the pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet is if necessary carried out after coating the unprinted part with a paint which is non-adherent to the pressure-sensitive adhesive.
