Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a partially metallized plastic film, continuously with a simple operation, by metallizing the whole surface of a film printed partly with a releasable resin, applying a pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet to the metallized surface, and releasing the adhesive sheet. CONSTITUTION:A surface of a plastic film such as polyester, vinyl chloride, nylon, etc. is printed with a resin having excellent releasability to the film (e.g. wax, silicone resin, etc.) to form the printed part and the nonprinted part, and the printed face of the film is wholly metallized with Al, Cr, Ni, etc. A sheet having a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and the above metallized film are laminated together by passing through a gap between a pair of vertically disposed rolls facing its metallized surface and the adhesive surface inward. After lamination, the adhesive sheet is peeled off from the metallized film to release the resin and the metallized layer of the plastic film at the printed part leaving the metallized layer of the nonprinted part on the plastic film.

Since then, a method for partially metallizing plastic films has been to form a metal vapor deposition layer on the film, partially print on it, and then immerse it in alkaline or acid solution to remove the printing. Alternatively, you can use a method of dissolving and removing only the metal vapor deposited layer on the printed area, or by printing with a water-soluble paint on the film and removing the metal vapor deposited layer over the entire surface, and then washing with water to remove the small parts on the printed area. A method is known in which only the metal vapor deposited layer is removed together with the paint. However, these methods all involve immersion in an alkaline or acid solution or washing with water, so if a water-soluble plastic film is used, the film will dissolve, and if a highly water-absorbent plastic film is used, the film will dissolve. Water-soluble or highly water-absorbent plastic films have drawbacks such as the film wrinkles easily and the adhesion between the film and the metal-deposited layer decreases, causing the metal-deposited layer to peel off naturally from the film. could not be used. Furthermore, even when a water-insoluble plastic film such as a polyester film is used, a large and bulky device for dipping or rinsing is required, and furthermore, drying is required after immersing or rinsing.

This invention eliminates the above-mentioned drawbacks and allows various plastic films, whether water-soluble or highly water-absorbent, to be partially coated with metal without having to be immersed in alkaline or acid solutions or washed with water. This invention provides a method for continuously forming vapor deposited layers. First, the present invention first provides a method for forming a vapor deposited layer, such as a polyester film, a polypropylene film, a vinyl chloride film, a polyvinyl alcohol film, a nylon film, a film containing polyvinyl alcohol as a main component, a cellophane film, etc. Printing is performed on one side of each of the various plastic films using a resin that is easily releasable from the plastic film to form a printed portion and a non-printed portion.

As the resin used for printing, for example, wax, silicone resin, fluororesin, etc. can be used. Furthermore, before forming the printed part and the non-printed part on the plastic film, a multi-colored layer with an appropriate pattern or design drawn on the entire plastic film or a part of the plastic film may be formed. Using such a plastic film, a printed portion and a non-printed portion may be formed as described above on the pattern, design, or colored layer side or on the opposite side thereof, and the present invention naturally includes such a case.

Next, a metal vapor deposition layer is formed on the entire printed surface. Metals are Ae, Cr, Ni, Zn, In, Cu, Ag
, Au and other various metals, metal oxides, alloys, etc., which can be vacuum deposited, can all be used. In addition, it is also possible to form a multi-colored layer in which various patterns are formed on various paints in contact with the metal vapor deposited layer before or after forming the metal vapor deposited layer. This invention naturally includes such a case.@This invention uses the vapor-deposited film obtained as described above and a sheet-like material with adhesive layout, metal vapor deposition 1 for the vapor-deposited film, and adhesive for the sheet-like material with adhesive layout. The resin of the printed part of the vapor-deposited film and the printed part are pasted by passing between the two upper rolls while overlapping each other as the inner side, and then peeling off the vapor-deposited film and the adhesive sheet. While the upper metal vapor deposited layer is peeled off from the plastic film, the metal vapor deposited layer on the non-printing area remains on the plastic film. In addition, in this case, if the vapor-deposited film used is one on which an appropriate pattern or colored layer is formed before or after forming the metal vapor-deposited layer on the printed film, the pattern or colored layer is formed on the metal vapor-deposited layer. Similarly, what is on the printed area is peeled off, and what is on the non-printed area remains. Also, the resin on the printed area that has been peeled off from the vapor-deposited film, the metal vapor-deposited layer on the printed area, and the material that is used Depending on the vapor deposited film, the pattern or colored layer on the printed area is in close contact with the adhesive.

Note that the sheet material with adhesive distribution may be made of, for example, a plastic film whose surface is coated with an adhesive in advance, or it may be coated with roll coating or the like immediately before the sheet material passes between two upper and lower wooden rolls. Application of an adhesive and drying using hot air or infrared rays may be performed.

In addition, in this invention, before pasting the vapor-deposited film and the sheet-like material with the adhesive layout, a paint having poor adhesion to the adhesive is applied only to the metal vapor-deposited layer on the non-printing part of the vapor-deposited film. It will be even more secure if the above is set, and the present invention includes such a case as well.

As described above, this invention does not require a large-scale device for dipping or washing as in the past, nor does it require a drying process or drying device, making it very simple. According to the present invention, water-soluble or highly water-absorbent plastic films can also be used, since there is no need to immerse the vapor-deposited film in an alkaline or acid solution or wash it with water as in the past.
