Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare powdery sodium silicate having low dusting tendency, stably and economically, by adding a specific amount of sodium metasilicate nonahydrate and/or pentahydrate prepared by crystalliziation proces to the powdery sodium silicate prepared by spray drying.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of powdery sodium silicate prepared by spray drying, which is easily soluble in water and on the other hand has high dusting tendency, is mixed with 2W30pts. of sodium metasilicate nonahydrate and/or pentahydrate. The mixing of the two compounds is carried out using a conventional mixer at normal temperature without heating, and the powdery sodium silicate having low dusting tendency can be obtained in a short time. Consequently, the powdery sodium silicate can be manufactured in large amount, economically, in an industrial scale.
