Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the printing speed by a method wherein a printing command for one line is divided into two; specific characters are printed by one printing command in outgoing cource while the remaining characters are done by the other printing command in the return course. CONSTITUTION:For example, data of registered types of highly frequently use are stored into a print driving controlling section 14, which determines wheter characters contained in a printing command input from a printing command section 10 correspond to the registerd types or not. Upon judging that they correspond to the registered types, the types and the printing position are memorized as a return driving control signal of a printing section 12. The print driving section 14 outputs a control signal for printing only characters contained in the registered types by print driving in the outgoing course of the printing section 12 and a control signal for printing those other than the registered types by print driving in the return course of the printing section 12. This reduces the frequency of withdrawing a type plate from a type case thereby increasing the printing speed for one line.
