Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a deodorizing device for gases of high performance and energy economizaion by combining ozone addition, adsorption by bromine compd. stuck carriers and washing by an aq. reducing agent soln., successively.
CONSTITUTION: After the ozone from an ozonizer 7 is mixed at a prescribed amt. with an odorous gas A in a duct 11, the gas is introduced into a deodorization tower 9 packed with a reacting agent 10' such as active carbon stuck with, for example, HBr, and is further fed to a washing tower 1 using a water soluble reducing agent such as sodium thiosulfate as washing liquid 4. In the tower 9, malodorous materials are oxidized by the Br2 produced by the reaction of the agent 10' and the ozone in the malodorous gas, whereby the gas is made odorless. The Br2 returns again to HBr2 and again receives ozone oxidation. In the tower 1, the unreacted residual ozone is decomposed to oxygen and removed with the washing liquid 4 of reduction characteristic, after which the treated gas is discharged.
