Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the life of bearing and to prevent occurrences of unstable deflections, by preventing the deviations of balls of a thrust ball bearing of a work roll from the race by a centrifugal force with a spring between radial ball bearings.
CONSTITUTION: A thrust bracket shaft 12 is supported by two pieces of radial ball bearings 5 so that the bracket shaft may rotate against a cartridge 8a, in a hollow cartridge 8a installed at the end of shaft of a work roll 2 so that the cartridge may be removed and attached. A thrust ball bearing 6 is fitted to the roll side end of a bracket shaft 12, and the end face is allowed to contact with a stepped portion 8a' at the inner surface of the cartridge 8a and a collar part 12' of the shaft 12, respectively. Moreover, one piece of bearings 5 is allowed to contact with the collar part 12' and the other is allowed to contact with a keeling 13 wedged into the inner surface at the opposite side of the roll through an oil seal 4, respectively. An adequate pressure is given to them by a spring between both bearings 5. The end at the opposite side of roll of the shaft 12 is supported by a bracket 11 having a fixed thrust bracket face 10 under movable condition, and the inside of the cartridge 8a is filled with the enclosed grease.
