Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent drop of preload in a tapered roller bearing and obtain thereby a stabilized bearing performance at all times by such a construction that the inner ring of a bearing is fixed to the shaft, the outer ring is held by the housing with possibility to slide axially, and that preload is applied to both bearings by means of elastic pieces to press the outer rings.
CONSTITUTION: Inner rings 1a, 2a of tapered roller bearings 1, 2 are fixed at the intended place on a shaft 3 fast as regards the axial direction while the outer rings 1b, 2b are held by a housing 10 in such a way that they can slide in the axial direction, and fixed bottom surfaces 11, 12 are formed on both side of a ring 10a. Between the outer rings 1b, 2b and bottom surfaces 11, 12, coil springs 13, 14 are interposed so that preload is applied to the outer rings 1b, 2b, and gaps Δδa and Δδb are formed between the outer rings 1b, 2b and bottom surfaces 11, 12. if outer thrust load T1 is applied and this is larger than Ta, the spring 13 is still more deflected to give the condition that Δδa=0, and the bearing 1 will receive the load T1 while the bearing 2 holds the preload Tb0. Thus, drop of the preload will never occur.
