Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition suitable for surface coating, comprising a prepolymer prepared by reacting a low-MW polyester resin containing 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol with a diisocyanate and an active hydrogen-containing acrylic monomer.
CONSTITUTION: 1,4-Cyclohexanedimethanol (i) is reacted with a dicarboxylic acid and another polyalcohol to obtain a low-MW polyester resin containing above 2wt% component (i). The obtained resin is reacted with a diisocyanate compound (e.g., 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate) and then with an active hydrogen-containing acrylic monomer (e.g., 2-hydroxylethyl acrylate) to form a prepolymer. The titled composition is prepared by mixing the above prepolymer, a copolymerizable monomer (e.g., styrene) and a photopolymerization initiator (e.g., benzoin).
EFFECT: Excellent adhesion, especially to PVC moldings.
USE: Surface coating of plastics, etc.
