Abstract

PURPOSE:To greatly change the damping force of a cylindrical hydraulic buffer in its compression without influencing the damping force in its expansion, by supporting at least two pairs of annular leaf springs and shims pinched between the inner edges of the springs, on the peripheral surface of a center plate so that the springs and the shims can slide. CONSTITUTION:A piston 36 is provided with a plurality of oil passages 38 extending through the piston in the direction of its sliding. An end plate 40, a control washer 42, a support plate 44 and a center plate 46 are sequentially fitted on the small-diameter tip of a piston rod 14. Annular leaf springs 48, shims 52 and another spring 50 are sequentially fitted on the peripheral surface of the center plate 46 so that the members 48, 52, 50 can slide. The leaf springs 48, 50 and the shims 52 are pinched between the outer edge 58 of the piston 36 and a support plate 42. As a result, the leaf springs 48, 50 are sequentially deformed as the moving speed of the piston 36 increases.
