Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a foam molded part easily and efficiently by a method wherein a plastic material containing chemical foaming agent is laid in a cavity of a mold, and softned, melted and expanded by an applied high frequency voltage. CONSTITUTION:A plastic material R containing chemical foaming agent that produces gas by thermal decomposition is laid in a cavity 13 and then molds 11, 12 are closed. Subsequently, a high frequency voltage is applied to facing upper and lower electrodes 21, 22, the material R is self-heated, softened and melted by its own dielectric loss and the foaming agent is decomposed thermally to produce gas. The material R is expanded by this decomposed gas, cavities 13, 14 are filled with the gas, and a desired foam is made. Next, the application of the high frequency voltage is stopped, cooling water is passed through cooling pipes 16, 16... to cool the molds 11, 12 and the molds are opened to take out a product.
