Abstract
PURPOSE: To carry out the catalytic dehydrogenation and dealkylation of an alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon at a relatively low temperature in the presence of a dealkylating catalyst containing a metallic component selected from Cr, Mo and W supported on active carbon, and having improved properties excellent in the activity and selectivity.
CONSTITUTION: An alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon, e.g. catalytic cracked oil, catalytic reformed oil or cracked oil of naphtha, containing toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, etc. catalytically hydrogenated and dealkylated in the presence of hydrogen at 400W650°C, preferably 500W600°C and 3W70kg/cm2. In the process, a catalyst containing at least one metallic component selected from Cr, Mo and W supported on active carbon is preferably used further an alkali, alkaline earth, rare earth and/or alumina as an active assistant supported on the active carbon, preferably coconut shell, coal, petroleum pitch. The amount of the metallic component is 1W30wt%, preferably 2W15wt%, based on the carrier.
