Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for methane conversion which is carried out in a reactor system using a catalyst containing a group VIII metal. This method is used for producing hydrocarbons having a number of carbon atoms greater than one as well as hydrogen. This method comprises adding to methane hydrocarbon raw material having more than three carbon atoms in an amount of at least 5.0 wt. % relative to the total amount of hydrocarbon raw material fed into the reactor system. The process is carried out on a catalyst containing a metal of the platinum group at an oxidation rate n greater than zero (n⊃0) or on a catalyst containing a group VIII metal consisting of cobalt, iron or nickel as well as a promoter on an oxide carrier. This invention also relates to variants of the methane conversion method which may be used for producing high-octane components for automobile fuel, aromatic hydrocarbons, C2-C5 aliphatic hydrocarbons and hydrogen.
