Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively convert head wind and cross wind by means of propulsive force in such a way that rear parts of a pair of auxiliary sails are respectively pivotally fixed on both sides of the rear part of the sail body, and sail area and shape are modified in response to the wind condition. CONSTITUTION:When either one of auxiliary sails 3 are turned, and it is developed abaft the sail body 1, clearance (A) in the longitudinal direction can be formed, and air through the clearance (A) can be flowed in to the negative pressure side of the auxiliary sails. In consequence, wind energy can be blown in to the interface on the negative pressure side of the auxiliary sails, and lift of the whole sails can be improved. Further, when either one of uniflux sails at the leading edge is operated in response to the need, wind energy is blown in to the interface on the negative pressure side of the sails, air flow is prevented from diverging, and lift of the whole sails can be further improved.
