Abstract
PURPOSE: An aqueoue uniform dispersion of titanium oxide is added to a solution of acrylontrile polymer and they are mixed under specific conditions to prepare a spinning dope giving fiber with titanium oxide uniformly dispersed.
CONSTITUTION: After particles of titanium oxide are dispersed in water in a proportion of less than 70wt% to form a uniform dispersion, less than 8pts.wt. of the resultant aqueous dispersion is added to 100pts. of a solution of acrylontrile polymer and they are mixed with an apparent shear speed S of more than 9.0× 102/sec where S is defined by the equation[π is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, R is the radium of the stirring blade in meter, N is the rotation number of the blade in 1/sec, r is the clearance between the top of the inlet of the aqueous dispersion and the top of the blade in meter]. Thus, a spinning dope containing titanium particles dispersed uniformly is obtained.
