PURPOSE:To achieve automatic positioning without any influence of variance of parts, by detecting the extent of the overshoot of a servo control signal during positioning operation, and thus setting the conversion coefficient of a track follow-up control system. CONSTITUTION:The output of a position error generator 1 indicating a present position and that of a target speed generator 3 are inputted to a mode switch 4 to find and supply a difference between a target speed and an actual speed and that of a target and an actural position to a varying device 6. On the other hand, an overshoot detector 11 is connected to the position error generator 1 to discriminate whether an overshoot is allowed or not by a discriminator 12, whose output operates a coefficient setter 9 for setting the conversion coefficient of a track follow-up control system to apply the coefficient to the varying device 6. Further, they are brought under the control of a test controller 10. Therefore, the extent of the overshoot is set and held automatically to obtain the best transfer ratio for positioning, and the control is exercised at a high speed with high precision.
