Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a head reference position detector with high accuracy without adjustment, by detecting a magnetic head reference position and each track position with a photodetector and a slit plate and incorporating slit plates into them. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 1 is located on a magnetic disc 2 and linked to an actuator 4 for head moving. Further, a moving slit 5 to detect the movement of the magnetic head 1, a fixed slit for position detection, a photodetector 77', light emitting elements 8, 8' are linked, allowing to detect the movement of the magnetic head 1 and a reference position, and an output of a head movement detection photodetector 7' is fed back to the actuator 4 to be positioned with high accuracy. With the constitution like this, an adjustment required for a conventional head reference position detector is not needed and the accuracy can also be increased.
