Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the working efficiency of the correction for an optical character reader, by deciding whether or not the collation and correction should be carried out according to the number of rejected characters. CONSTITUTION:The character patter train equivalent to a line of a slip which is read out of a photoelectric converting part 1 is cut out to a character pattern with every character through a preprocessing part 3. This cut-out character pattern is recognized at a recognizing part 4. When a character is rejected based on the result of recongnition, a reject code is sent to a control part 6. The number of reject codes equivalent to a page is counted by a counter 62 at the part 6. The count value of the counter 62 is compared with the set value of a register 61. When the count value of the counter is larger than the set value, the collation and correction is carried out. And no collation and correction is carried out when the count value of the counter 62 does not reach the set value. In such way, the time required for the collation and correction is reduced to improve the working efficiency of the correction.
