Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the removal treatment of rolling oil prior to the charging of metal strip coils into a heating furnace, as in the conventional methods, by a method in which an ambient gas is circulated to a cleaner provided outside the heating furnace in such a way as to gradually remove soot and smoke generated from the metal strip coil being heated. CONSTITUTION:A metal strip coil (a) is charged into a heating furnace 20 through an inlet door 24, an intermediate door 28, and an outlet door 36, where a great amount of ambient gas in a storage tank 2 is supplied at a dash into a cooling chamber 27 through a spout tube 29 to completely prevent the instrusion of open air during the exchange period. Then, the ambient gas is heated by the heat source of a radiant tube 21 and then circulated by turning a fan 22 to heat the strip coil a inside the heating furnace 20. And, during the early period of heating, the ambient gas in the furnace 20 is circulated by operating a blower 40 to remove soot and smoke generated from the strip coil being heated.
