Abstract

PURPOSE:To equalize the temperatures of rolled materials staying in a heating furnace by a method in which plural heating burners are provided an inlclined ceiling part close to a boundary between the heating zone and the nose of soaking zone in the heating furnace and when the operation of the heating furnace is temporarily stopped, roller materials staying in the furnace are heated. CONSTITUTION:A heating furnace for rolled materials consists of a heating furnace body 1, a preheating zone composed of an upper preheating zone A and a lower preheating zone A', a heating zone composed of an upper heating zone B and a lower heating zone B', and a soaking zone C. In an inclined ceiling part close to a boundary between the soaking zone C the nose part 8 and of the heating zone, plural burners 7 are provided in the widthwise direction of the furnace, preferably matching the position of a skid 2. When the operation of the heating furnace is temporarily stopped, e.g., it in heat-holding state, the nose part 8 is heated by the burners 7, whereby the roller materials staying in the nose part 8 are heated. Thus, the lowering of temperature of the materials below the other materials can be prevented to enable the temperature of the materials staying to be equalized.
