Abstract
PURPOSE:To protect circuit elements of a controller by detecting the over-use of a brake resistor beyond its allowance that consumes regnerated power and by providing a controlling means to cut off the resistor from the circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a brake is applied on an induction motor 2 driven by an inverter 3, the regenerated power is expended by a braking resistor 10 by the action of a control signal generator 7a. The intermittent signal of a comparator 13 in a driving circuit 8 that controls a transistor 9, is smoothed and applied to a counter 17 via a V/F converter 16. The signal is compared in a comparator 15 with the reference voltage when the load time rate of the resistor 10 becomes high and the resistor is over-heated, and controls the counter 17 and detaches the resistor 10 from the circuit. The braking resistor 10 can be placed close to the inverter 3, simplifying wiring process without a fear of damaging the circuit elements due to the overheat of the resistor 10.
