Abstract

PURPOSE:To change a rate of injection and eliminate abnormal injection in an in-line injection pump, by using a surplus pump cylinder not in use for fuel injection and freely controlling valve opening pressure and lift quantity of injection valves. CONSTITUTION:An injection pump 1, provided with one more cylinder than quantity of engine cylinders, is used. In the injection pump 1, a surplus pump cylinder 1a, not connected to an injection valve 2, is connected to an accumulator chamber 16 through a pipe 15, and fuel is fed forcibly from said pump cylinder 1a then stored in the accumulator chamber 16. Then the accumulated fuel is fed to a pressure distributor 18 through a pressure regulating valve 17, passing through distributor pipes 19, and fed to each injection valve 2. Fuel passes connection parts 14 to increase valve opening pressure at controlled pressure for engine speed and change a rate of injection.
