Abstract

PURPOSE: An antifungal germicide comprising 2,15-dihydroxyl-7-methyl-5-oxo-6- oxabicyclo[11,3,0]hexadeca-3,11-diene and an imidazole type compound as active ingredients, exhibiting a synergistic effect.
CONSTITUTION: A germicide comprising a compound shown by the formulaIand an imidazole type antifungal compound (e.g., econazole shown by the formula II, micazole shown by the formula III, clotriazole shown by the formula IV) in a weight ratio of (0.01:1)W(1:1). Although the two components have an antifungal action on strains belonging to the genus Candida, but not exhibit individually practical effect, the use of both the compounds exhibits improved antifungal action (enhancement of the minimum controlling concentration of nearly 100 times compared with the individual use) which is not expected in the case of individual use.
