Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled parts having a long life or their material by forming a coat of ≥1 kind of metal selected from Cr, Ni and Mo on the surface of a substrate or a base material and carrying out heat treatment.
CONSTITUTION: A coat of ≥1 kind of metal selected from Cr, Ni and Mo is formed on the surface of a substrate or a base material and heat treated at about 450W600°C. The coat can be formed by a known method such as CVD, plating, vapor deposition or sputtering. For example, the preferred base material of a wire rod for a wire rope is austenite stainless steel. The central base material of the wire rod obtd. by subjecting the steel to said treatment provides high toughness, tensile strength, etc., and the surface coat provides resistance to wear due to sliding at high temp., neutron damage and oxidation.
