Abstract

PURPOSE: To elongate the life of the resulting titled parts or their material by coating each surface with a Cr layer.
CONSTITUTION: The parts of a control rod driving mechanism for a high-temp. gas furnace include a wire rope, a drum for winding up the wire, a guide reel and a guide pipe, and their material includes a wire rod used to twist the wire rope. They are made of austenite stainless steel, Ni alloy or the like. On their surfaces Cr coats having about 1W5μm thickness are formed by electroplating or other method. Thus, the central base materials provide mechanical characteristics such as high toughness and tensile strength, and the coats provide resistance to wear due to sliding at high temp., neutron damage, oxidation, etc.
