Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent stress from concentrating on the corner of a groove for a lockup ring, by causing the non-corner part of the lockup ring groove of a rim base to carry radial load from the lockup ring.
CONSTITUTION: The bottom of the lockup ring groove 6 of a rim base 1 is flattened to carry radial load through a lockup ring 4. The lockup ring 4, which is fitted in the groove 6, has an inner surface in contact with the bottom of the groove 6 of the rim base 1. At least one of the sides of the lockup ring 4 is located in contact with one side wall of the groove 6. The lockup ring 4 is provided with slopes 4c, 4d on both the sides of the upper part of the ring. Since only a sideward froce F acts to the side edge of the lockup ring groove part of the rim base 1, the corner (a) of the part is unlikely to crack.
