Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the temperature difference between end parts of a roll and the central part thereof by fitting a material of low coefficient of heat transfer into both ends of holes provided in a drilled hole for passing a heating or cooling medium. CONSTITUTION:Pipes 10 of a material having low coefficient of heat transfer (e.g., unglazed ceramic pipe, short heat-resisting plastic pipe) are fitted into the end parts of the passing hole 1 of the roll and peripheral holes 3. By fitting the pipe 10 having the lower coefficient of heat transfer, it is possible to eliminate the temperature difference in the axial direction of the roll surface, which problem has been encountered in conventional drilled rolls, and to obtain a favorable temperature distribution.
