Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a power feeder in an optical controller wherein a piezoelectric element displaces an optical system, by using a photoelectromotive force element as a light source. CONSTITUTION:A controller that performs optical switching through the displacement of a piezoelectric element 1 by fitting the element to an input optical fiber 9 or reflecting mirror 7 achieves fully optical control while eliminating the need for a feeder, by using a photoelectromotive force element 6 which has a slantingly vapor-deposited film of a group II-VI or III-V compound as a light source. Controlled light may be passed through another fiber, but setting threshold values of wavelength, intensity, etc., adequately enables the input optical fiber 9 to be used directly. When a driving fiber is branched from an output side, self-oscillation is carried out to output a pulse train.
