Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for passing a cable between rolls, eliminate the need for installation of antennas and the like and make equipment inspection, maintenance, etc. easy by passing a detector in a roll gap and automatically measuring the roll gap. While the roll gap detector 3 is being passed betweeen rolls, at least the minimum value data of the measured data thereof are accumulated and stored, and when the detector 3 is moved out from between the rolls and is placed in the prescribed position, the accumulated data are read out to the outside, moreover, the storage battery of the detector 3 is charged.
