Abstract
PURPOSE: An additive containing of a diester of a (poly)alkylene glycol with an aliphatic carboxylic acid as an essential component, capable of enhancing the flocculation of pulverized coal only by the addition to an coal-water slurry with an oil, and improving the recovery of the pulverized coal.
CONSTITUTION: An additive containing a diester of a (poly)alkylene glycol, preferably ethylene glycol or a polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of 300W1,000, with an aliphatic carboxylic acid, preferably ≥15C unsaturated fatty acid, e.g. tall oil fatty acid, as an essential component. The additive in an amount of preferably 0.01W 0.5wt% based on the coal in a coal-water slurry is added thereto. The additive may be previously dissolved in an oil simultaneously used.
