Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a fluorescent emission with improved contrast and high quality by forming ultraviolet-ray shielding layers and a frame-like fusing glass layer simultaneously between fluorescent films formed on regions of a cover glass which correspond to a number of discharge electrode pairs and on the peripheral part of the cover glass which is to be sealed. CONSTITUTION:Fluorescent films 5a-5d..., each of which corresponds to the region of each discharge electrode pair formed on a glass base plate 1 and emits fluorescent light when ultraviolet rays are excited due to electric discharge, are provided on the inner wall of a cover glass 6, which is a component of a panel, by photography or something similar. Next, ultraviolet-ray shielding layers 21 and a frame-like fusing glass layer 22 which have larger thickness than the films 5a-5d... are formed simultaneously by applying a glass member same as a fusing glass member between the films 5a-5d... and on the peripheral part of the glass 6 which is to be sealed. After that, the layers 21 and 22 are sintered temporarily so that the organic binder disappears. Consequently, any excitation of unnecessary fluorescent films by ultraviolet rays can be prevented, and a fluorescent emission with improved contrast can be obtained.
