Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain thin-film type magnetic media having excellent magnetic characteristics and corrosion resistance by adding Cr to a magnetic layer of Co or Co-Ni. CONSTITUTION:Evaporation is performed on a glass or polyimide film, with Co or Co-Mi wherein weight % of Ni is 55 or less as a parent material. Said parent material is relatively easy to give magnetic resistant proterty. At this time, the ratio of inclusion of Cr with respect to Co+Cr or Co+Ni+Cr is 2-15wet%. If said material is added, a magnetic film having excellent magnetic prorperty and corrosion resi stance can be obtained. The composition of Cr and the partial pressure of oxygen in the residual evaporation gas greatly affects the characteristics of the magnetic films. In the case the amount of Cr addition lies in the range of 2-15wt% the magnetic resistant force Hc largely increases. If the partial pressure of oxygen exceeds 10<-4> Torr, Hc decreases rapidly, and the effect of Cr addition is lost.
