Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a paint compsn. for precoated metals, which gives a coating film having excellent flexibility, hardness, adhesion, resistace to corrosion, chemicals and heat, etc., by mixing polyvinylidene fluoride with a polyester/ imide resin.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester/imide resin is produced, e.g., by using an imido group-contg. dicarboxylic acid as an acid component in the production of a polyester. 1W1,000pts.wt. polyester/imide resin is dissolved in a polar solvent such as dimethylformamide or dioxane. To this is added 100pts.wt. polyvinylidene fluoride. The mixture is mixed in a ball mill to obtain the desired paint compsn. for precoated metals. The resulting paint compsn. is coated on a material such as stainless steel sheet by means of a roller coating method, and baked at 200W 400°C for 15W120sec to form a cured film having excellent physical properties.
