Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled resin composition being suitable for use in adhesives, paints, etc., and providing cured products having good adhesion, prepared by adding a mixture containing a bivalent-metal salt of lactic acid and a diacid anhydride at a specified mol ratio to an epoxy resin.
CONSTITUTION: A bivalent-metal salt of lactic acid of the formula, wherein M is a bivalent metal such as calcium, magnesium or zinc is mixed with a diacid anhydride, e.g., phthalic anhydride or maleic anhydride, at a ratio of 1:6W40. Next, this mixture is added to an epoxy resin having an average of at least two epoxy groups in the molecule to obtain the titled resin composition. Here, it is also possible to add the bivalent-metal salt of lactic acid and the diacid anhydride separately to the epoxy resin at the above-mentioned mol ratio. The resulting composition has excellent curing property and can provide a metal-containing cured resin having excellent properties when it is cured.
