Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility, packing property, etc., of magnetic powder by using a vinyl choride-vinyl acetate copolymer and specific polyurethane resin in combination as binder components for a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:As binder components for a magnetic layer, a vinyl chloride- vinyl acetate copolymer having epoxy groups and polyurethane resin having polyurethane molecules having hydroxyl groups at positions other than both terminals of a principal chain are contained. The weight ratio of said copolymer to polyurethane resin is set 8:2-3:7 and this polyurethane resin favorably has 10,000-100,000 mean molecular weight: the mean number of hydroxyl groups in resin for every molecule is >=0.5. Further, an isocyanate compound having low molecular weight such as 2,4-tolylenediisocyanate, for example, is contained as a binder component to further improve the heat resistance of the magnetic layer.
