Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a one-side plated steel plate of high coating weights with compact installations by containing air bubbles in an electrolyte thereby preventing electrodeposition and forming a non-plated surface.
CONSTITUTION: While a strip 4 guided by conductor rolls 3 travels in the space in an electrolytic cell 1 provided with liquid wells 2 in the bottom, it is plated by the electrolyte ejecting through the injection ports provided to electrode pads 5 installed on both sides of the strip 4. A pair of the pads 5 consist of hollow pads 5X and 5Y, and the plating soln. fed through electrolyte supply pipes 9 ejects like arrows through injection ports 7. Air bubbles are contained in the electrolyte through gas supply pipes 10 and electricity is conducted only to the electrode surface 8Y. The formation of the plating on the electrode 5X side is prevented by the air bubbles. The strip 4 is held stably at the center of the pads by static pressure.
