Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the material cost and manufacture cost of an airtight container member by forming a plane container member of glass by hot formation. CONSTITUTION:Glass which has a 60-135X10<-7>cm/cm/ deg.C coefficient of thermal expansion and a 350-700 deg.C softening point is used as a starting material. This is heated to low viscosity and shaped with shaping dies 4 in this state to obtain a plane container 6 having <=1.8mm. thickness. In another way, the glass material in the low-viscosity state is flowed into a mold to form the plane container. Thus, the whole or part of the plane container is made of inexpensive glass by hot formation, so that the material cost and manufacture cost of an airtight container member are both reduced.
