PURPOSE:To correct the ambient change and secular change of a photosensitive drum, and also compensate moisture absorption characteristics completely, by controlling the extent of the exposure of a recording body according to both the output of a means of detecting the ambient humidity of the recording body and that of a means of compensating charging characteristics. CONSTITUTION:When a timing signal synchronizing with the charging rotation of a photosensitive drum is applied to a terminal 17 and the powering-up timing of a power source for circuit driving nearly coincides with the charging rotation of the photosensitive drum, a constant voltage is inputted to a terminal 17. Then, a transistor Q6 turns on and the discharging of a capacitor C1 is started with a time constant C1.R1.R2/(R1+R2), so that a voltage at a connection point of resistances R1 and R2 according to an exponential function. When the output voltage of a temperature sensor 13 is high at this time, a small voltage is applied to a time constant circuit 15, so a corona current decreases as humidity increases to correct the initial value in the beginning of charging while considering humidity conditions. The output of the circuit 15 is inputted to a halogen lamp turn-on voltage control circuit 19 to control a voltage applied to an exposure light source 9, controlling the extent of exposure.
