Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a granurated material of a polycarbonate having little residual solvent, is excellent in thermal stability and shape holding stability and easy to deal with, by a method wherein a powder of polycarbonate is granulated by a dry-type compression molding machine and then heat treated. CONSTITUTION:A polycarbonate (e.g., bisphenol base aromatic polycarbonate) prepared by a solvent method is isolated from its solution and is pulverized to obtain a powder form polycarbonate, which is dried and is granurated by the dry-type compression molding machine (e.g., rolls) at a pressure of at least 2kg/cm<2> at a temperature in the range of room temperature to 180 deg.C. Next, the granulated material thus obtained is heated, for example, by hot air, infrared rays or other means at 150-210 deg.C for at least 10min. to obtain a granulated material of the polycarbonate. The granulated material is molded by extrusion, blow molding or the like to produce various kinds of articles.
