Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve high discharge pressures even when handling water and other liquids with poor lubircating properties by using carbon fiber reinforced duracon for pump gears. CONSTITUTION:A driving gear 4 is made of SUS 303 (stainless steel) or suchlike material in one piece and its surface is given surface treatment such as tufftride treatment, for instance, after manufacture. A driven gear 6 is made of carbon fiber reinforced polyacetal resin which is excellent in strength and wear resistance and has a high resistance to wear only with the aid of the lubricating action of water when used in underwater applications. Furthermore the carbon fiber reinforced polyacetal resin possesses excellent properties as a bearing material. Therefore, the use of carbon fiber reinforced duracon for pump gears enables the pump to maintain a high discharge pressure for a long time even when handling water or suchlike liquids.
