Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform economic running operation in an internal combustion engine equipped with a carburetor including primary and secondary side fuel supply systems, by providing a lock means artificially locking a throttle valve in the secondary side. CONSTITUTION:A primary side intake air conduction passage consists of intake passages 24, 9, 11 and intake port 4. A secondary side comprises intake passages 37, 10, 12 and intake port 3. In running operation in an urban area, when large output is not required, the driver controls a push button to operate a vacuum switching valve 81 and communicate the negative pressure introducing chamber A of an actuator 51 always to the atmosphere. Consequently, a secondary side throttle valve 38 is locked to a closing state despite operation of an accelerator. In this way, even if accelerating operation is performed to an overthrottling state, a surplus amount of fuel is not supplied.
