Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate handling and exchanging, to increase the rate of packing of hollow yarn and to withstand long-term high pressure operation by securing both ends of a bundle consisting of many hollow yarn membranes together with a sleeve enclosing the bundle thereby forming a cartridge.
CONSTITUTION: A cartridge secured with both ends of a hollow yarn bundle 2 is contained in a cartridge containing case 1 provided with outlets and inlets 11, 12 for the 1st and 2nd fluids. The case 1 and the cartridge are sealed by sealants 5, 6, and the force exerted upon this is transmitted from only the secured parts 4. The cartridge is fixed to the case 1 by means of snap ring 10 and gives virtually no load upon a sleeve 3. Since there is no need for core bars for the purpose of sealing both end parts and a tough sleeve, the device maintains the same high rate of packing of the hollow without decreasing and provides a high membrane area per volume.
