Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption and to obtain an economical circuit, by constituting a programmable counter circuit of 3 programmable counters and 1 preset signal circuit. CONSTITUTION:A preset signal circuit 7 is provided so that the length and the timing of a frequency-dividing output CO of a programmable counter 6 comforms with a frequency-dividing output of a prescaler 1, and an output signal is applied to a programmable counter 2 through this circuit and is preset. As a result, a preset signal applied to an input PE of the programmable counter 2 becomes a signal extending over 1 period of a count-out signal CO of the prescaler 1, and counts exactly by the number of programs. On the other hand, operating frequency of the programmable counter 2 becomes lower than the input frequency by a dividing ratio of the prescaler 1, and also operating frequencies of the programmable counter 5 and 6 becomes lower by the product of dividing ratios of the prescaler 1 and 4.
